The 2nd Workshop on Space Capacity Allocation for the Sustainability of Space Activities was held at Politecnico di Milano (Italy) on 3-5 June 2026, and was organised by Politecnico di Milano, the European Space Agency, the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche and EUCASS. The event focused on current advances in space capacity modelling and management to define an accepted threshold. To this aim, the topics included the long-term evolution of the space object population environment, the impact of large constellations, space debris mitigation strategies, space carrying capacity indicators, space law, and other space sustainability aspects such as atmospheric emissions, light pollution, space weather and Life Cycle Assessment.
EUCASS was proud to sponsor the Best student paper award. 18 excellent student contributions were considered, making the selection particularly challenging for the jury. Given the very high quality of the submissions and the close scores, the jury decided to split the award between two winners, while identifying three finalists.
The jury were composed of:
- Antoinette Ott, chair of the award committee, member of EUCASS SUSTP (Sustainable Space) technical committee.
- Marie Delaroche, environmental performance engineer at MaiaSpace
- Thibaut Maury, policy officer on space sustainability at DG DEFIS (European Commission)
- Alessandro Rossi, researcher in planetary sciences, astrodynamics and space debris at IFAC (CNR Institute)
The winners are:

- Achraf Mizmizi (PoliMi).
